plasma or rptv?

Rear projection is sh!t, so if those are your only options then its obviously plasma. DLP is the other option you should consider, not rear projection

Aren't DLP tv's a type of Rear projection?

BTW I wouldn't buy an RP or DLP or whatever since they are too dark and you have to sit in the middle to get a balanced picture.

Plasma is so much brighter and bolder colors.

DLPs are indeed RPTVs.

Personally I strongly prefer the image of DLP and LCoS RPTVs to plasma. Plasma sets have such a pronounced screen-door effect that they really emphasize the jaggies. Not a fan at all.

Know what you're talking about before spewing inaccuracies.....

This samsung HL-S5087W is among the best DLP tv's I've seen for about $2500.

it's a 1080P with the 14400 rpm 5 segment color wheel, and 10000:1 contrast make it have one of the best picture qualities available in DLP.

FT Worth Star Telegram used to host the dallas Fry's ads, but doesn't look like they are there anymore...

FWIW, the item number is 4578857 and you can get it with 0 down and no interest...have the ad right here in front of me...

Either 50" Vizio Plasma from Costco, or 1080p DLP. If you're willing to wait, then next gen SXRD from Sony.

you price range is on the lower end for a plasma, but would get you a really nice DLP or LCD Projection.

I'll probably be getting one of these. Game mode to reduce lag, 1080p HDMI inputs instead of just 1080i. My brother has a HLR-xxx from last year and loves it.

If you go over to AVSForum and look in the Power Buys forum you can get one for less than $2500.
