Plasma and widescreen resolution support

Curious - we have a plasma at work, and a Dell hooked up to it with built-in Intel Extreme 2 graphics. There doesn't appear to be support in the card's drivers for the widescreen 856x480 or 1024x600 resolutions (the screen supports them), and unfortunately, that means either stretching the image, or displaying it as a 4:3 800x600 in the middle.

Is there any way to force this resolution via a freeware tool of some kind?
 
Check that out with the maker of the plasma monitor. That would seem to be their little red wagon to pull around.
