Same. I uninstalled it around Christmas. They killed the franchise with greed.

It doesn't help that it's only on Android and iOS, two operating systems I have no worthwhile devices on (never owned an iOS device, but I have an old Droid incredible lying around here somewhere). I'd MAYBE get it if they put it on Windows Phone, and I'd probably get it if it was on Steam.

Except the nickel-and-dime crap makes me hesitant. How bad is it REALLY?

To be fair, EA purchased the company which is why the franchise went down hill.

I didn't think the IAP's were that bad in PvZ 2. I couldn't even tell you what real world money bought you in-game. I didn't get as far as my wife, but from watching her play there's a ton of content (levels and plant types) that can be unlocked without spending a dime.

Personally, I thought PvZ 2 was pretty OK for a free-to-play. I'd never play it if I were at home with my PC+consoles or if I had my 3DS with me, but it's usually the game I'll fire up when I'm idling IRL without access to my other gaming systems.

It was not bad by any means. You can get through the game without spending any money, they are pretty liberal with the amount of coins they give.

What gets annoying is how they will constantly pester you with in app purchase stuff, it feels like they are just begging to squeeze money out of your wallet. You are also forced to replay levels to advance which got old.

It was decent while it lasted but I uninstalled it a couple months ago. Not as good as the first though, they most def took a step back with the franchise.

They didn't make a paid ad free version of the game? I never looked to see

You can beat the game without paying, but some plants are never unlockable.

I beat Zomboss on the pyramid level, but I can't figure out how to access him on the other levels. Seems like they're just dragging it out further. :(

Is there any truth to the lawnmower complaints people are levying? Basically they're saying that since the patch, lawnmowers after being used once, will need to be re-bought with coins.

Well, as of 2/11/14, I am no longer a customer of PopCap's. I will not buy into this garbage.

Ah, good ol' EA! Ruining games for everyone. I haven't noticed that, but I have like 140k coins just from playing the game.

I just went pack to playing Plants vs. Zombies 1 because I like the mode where you can play as the zombies. It had much better bonus games in general.

Literally every gamer and every gaming company in the world knows and hates EA to the core untill EA knocks on the developers doorsteps asking to buy the game for millions and then everyone goes gaga...

screw it, its not just the greed of EA, but also the developers who sell them their games knowing full well that EA will ruin it for everyone without any thought for their loyal fans all for greed.

screw EA, screw POPCAP

Screw the consumers who actually bought those things. You cant be angry at EA for servicing a market need.

If consumers didnt buy any of those things, the business model would not work and EA would not do what they did. But because people do pay for that stuff, EA knows it is worthwhile to do, and in fact more profitable than if they had sold the full game for $10.

Exactly the same thing with DRM - there is a customer backlash, but people still give EA their money. So nothing changes.

EA isnt the gaming company we need, but its the gaming company we deserve.

Correction: You can't get mad at EA for their practices while you buy their games left and right. That's why I stopped buying from them in 2008, except for NBA Jam on my phone, which I bought as a "good job, EA" when they announced the end of the Online Pass. The last retail game I bought from them was Rock Band 2, in the fall of 2008, simply because they're a terrible company.

I've wanted to get a couple of Madden games, and I'd like to play NFS: Rivals. However, I have to miss out, because I won't touch their games, and I won't sign up for Origin. It's why Titanfall is such a huge conundrum for me. The game looks really good, I REALLY need something to replace Black Ops II (which is over a year old and VERY boring at this point), but it'd mean buying from EA. If I don't get Titanfall, I have to wait until The Division.

Wow, this does not sound good. Also, I was recently told that the Android version of Plants vs Zombies 1 (not 2) now has in-app purchases. I'm not sure if it's new features or stuff that was previously part of the game. I won't say free because that game is not free. Frankly I'm afraid to update it and find out.

Sadly, I knew it was the end of PopCap when EA bought them. Looks like the inevitable has happened. God I hate EA!
