New Popcap game, is on Steam for $10, and has a 1 hour trial you can download. I seem to enjoy T.D. type games so I gave this one a whirl. An hour really isn't enough IMHO. As with pretty much all T.D. games I've played, it starts out very slow and takes awhile to speed up. So they're pretty boring for awhile. Very cartoony graphics, you have to defend your home from the Zombies with plants. No idea why they chose plants but they did. The further you get the more different types of plants you unlock. You can also buy power ups and other items. First hour was almost snoozer easy for me, but I figured it would get much harder, and I liked the graphics and gameplay so I sprung $10 to buy it.

It definitely gets harder, you have a limited amount of spaces for weapons & plants so you have to plan carefully which you want or you'll lose. If 1 Zombie gets by, the first time a lawn mower will run him and any zombie in his line over. After that it's game over. There are 6 lines on the level I'm on - maybe will be more later. Some zombies have tin buckets on their head for armor, some will pole valt over your flowers, some ride in on Zambonies. Seems to be a wide variety, I've seen maybe 24 or so to this point.

For $10 I'm having fun, I suppose this could have been a flash based web game. But it seems to have a lot of power ups and flower types compared to most free on-line games. I've unlocked 25 weapons and half the slots are still empty. Game's pretty difficult at this point, I'm on level 3-9, not sure how many it has total as it doesn't seem to tell me.

A pretty good time waster, a bit different than the typical T.D. games. It has other modes of play - Puzzle, something else I don't remember. I haven't unlocked them. So maybe I have a ways to go.

Try the demo if you like these types of games, nothing to lose. Will run on any system as it's not 3d or anything fancy. I still think the graphics are pretty good, for a cartoon game they fit. Resolution is locked (dunno at what) not any real options.

try it out.

Yeah I also gave it a whirl, it's pretty good for casual game, I'm bothered by the resolution limit (which is pretty low, maybe 1024x768, if not 800x600) but the gameplay is pretty cool, the almanac entries are witty and charming as well.

It has the gameplay of a casual game with content and variety bordering on the level of a gamers' game, it's quite interesting actually.

It's great as a time waster, something to play while you are waiting on something, well if you've played any other Popcap game then you know what to expect, highly polished game.

I put up the cash for Defence Grid (I think) from Steam. Very very good tower defence game, super fun and I do believe it allowed 1920x1080 resolutions.

Im back into my TQ:IT at the moment so I'll bookmark this up for later.

I <3 this game. Highly recommended. I bought like 5 copies and gifted to my family. Most of whom like casual games.

Edit: To add to the OP, the other game modes that you unlock by playing "Adventure" mode are: Minigames (wallnut bowling, slot machine and others), Puzzle, and Survival

raduque - I just finished it. pretty sweet, a bit easy. But a few levels did give me some trouble, more so I just didn't know exactly what plants to use. The song was pretty catchy
As cheesy as it was I think I would actually put it on my Touch if I had an mp3 of it lol.

"There's butter on my head!" lol. Game was a bit short, but it had good variety and the end boss was a pretty cool throw back to Mega Man type super huge robots. Robots + Zombies = teh wins!

My mom loves Jewel Quest & Qbeez 2 & a few of the other "match 3 games" she's not really quick with the mouse so I don't think this game would be good for her. But for casual gamers with reflexes this is a winner. A whole lot of personality, I really enjoyed it and was kind of sad when it was over. But I still have all the unlocked modes to play and the Zen Garden to work on.

a couple levels were trying, I think there were maybe 4 I had to do more twice, and 1 I had to do 3 times. I beat the boss the first try. I want to see an expansion with new zombies and plants. I would say best $10 I've spent on a game in a long time, but I just bought the Orange Box for the same price lol.

Best game since PORTAL.

zombies on your lawwwwn~~~ zombies on your lawn~~~ she sounds so sexy mmmmm

Everything is cartoony and cute but level of sophistication is quite high.

characters are drawn well and music is top notch.

only issue was that it was quite short . at least adventure mode was. but final fight was epic and I love the ending .

10 / 10

It was pretty short but yeah I liked it. I thought it was too easy. All the zombies pretty much can't penetrate if you 3-4 peas or whatever the game shoots in each lane.

Adventure 2 is a wee bit harder since you are limited on slots and zombies are more ferocious (well they are the same but more of them appear).

Survival is also quite difficult as are some minigames like Last Stand, Pogo Party and Bobsled Bonanza.

pogo was easy once i started using split peas and tallnuts and imitated tallnuts

bobsled took me a few tries though, used lots of spike strips

i still love the game, put probably 30 hours into it now

JESUS the Zombotny 2 Mini Game is freaking HAAARD! A few of the others I had to play a few times just to figure out what plants worked best. But I cannot beat this one to save my life lol. People are saying this game is short? for 10 bucks I dunno. The main adventure isn't too long. But with the mini games, puzzles, and adventure being different if you play it again. I think this game is great for the price. The Cobcannon is pretty bad ass. I still have a few weapons to buy. Lots of content. I would love to see this ported to the iPhone.

it was pretty fun, didn't care for the zen garden so i'm pretty done with it now... just a few more survival modes to do. the main game got a bit tiresome, each level you have to rebuild everything and it's 1 new zombie/1 plant type. got a bit boring.

Spikeweed and Spikerock upgrade. One of the most under-rated plants by most people, since they are IMMUNE to shots. Perfect for Zombotny 2.

actually i beat it by stacking all my sunflowers in ~2 rows, then using wallnuts large and small in the other rows. used garlic to get zombies away from the sunflower rows.

spikerock takes too long to regenerate. I used Spikeweed + Cobcannons. They're slow to reload too, but AWESOME lol. That sucker pnws groups of Zombies. I ended up having 2 of them and alternating fire I was able to blast out a few canons. Was still a hard level though, the zombies come fast and generating enough sun to buy the shit you need isn't easy. 3 spikeweeds in a row handles all of them except the Walnut head bitches.
