plants in display case need how much air?

We had plants on plant stands, but one of the cats realized how fun it was to knock them over. (Seriously - I saw the little bastard do a pullup onto one of them, then push off from the wall. Because of Falcon, I guess.)

So now we're enclosing them.

I've built a plexiglass box (18x18x40 internal volume) and have seen plants in little mini-greenhouses / seed trays that are close to airtight, but am wondering how much, if any, ventilation the plants need. Obviously, we'd be opening the container once every few days to water the plants, and would be getting some air exchanged when we do that.

Or should I cut a bunch of holes in one or more of the plexiglass panels?

You built a plexiglass box to house your house plants?
Its not just air, but a reduction in light as well.
Its not a good idea to enclose them long term.

Air flow not only gives them more carbon dioxide, it also keeps humidity down, which will prevent mold and other fungus build up.
Plants really aren't made for indoors.

What types of plants are they?

An assortment of low light house plants. They've been fine for years, they just get a lot of cat damage.
