I own a set of DSP-500's, Sennheiser HD-570's/580's, Altec Lansing Headset with Mic, and from using each one, the DSP-500's are definitely worth their money. The built in sound card can make things a little annoying when switching back and forth from the internal cojmputer sound card to the DSP sound card (built in line), but other than that a very good product. If purchased recently for 79.99 or less (rather than their initial price of 149.99 when first introduced), they are quite a bargain. Their mic equalizer along with their stellar ability to remove background noise makes them ideal online gaming headphones. Dont believe their great background noise filter? Try this on them, play music in the headphones and move the microphone so that it is resting in the right earcup (it will bend a little but will not damage the headphones). Even at the loudest volumes, it will not pickup the audio from it's headphones over your voice. Very impressive. Yet, other people in the room can contribute (if loud enough). Great filtering...

Recently I accidently broke the microphone on my trip back from Quakecon 2005 (crushed the mic in the bag, no physical damage, but wont work anymore - audio still plays back fine), and I still went out and bought another pair at Fry's. Luckily they still make and sell them. Over 4 years ago I bought my first set at CompUSA, and they are still the best mic headset I have ever owned. Also much more comfortable to wear over extended periods compared to my Altec Lansing pair I own. I dont know the model of the Altec Lansing pair I own, but I bought them not too long ago for my wife for about $50. She doesnt use them as much so I couldnt justify the additional cost of the DSP-500's, but I didnt want to buy junk either...

I'd much rather buy a set of PC 150/160s over DSP-500s. The build quality on Sennheisers are much higher than on Plantronics.
