I've had both DirectTv and Dish network, never had outages on either one, I get really mad with those Comcast commercials that have the people saying that their dish always goes out, because it is just blatantly false. as for satellites, I prefer Dish, it seems to be alot faster while surfing etc. and the remote is really nice and easy to use, also the menus are really, I never liked the menus of directTv, and don't even get me started on Digital Cable (worst user interface ever). If Dish has a Tivo like receiver, I would recommend that over DirectTv, as I have been very impressed with Dish.

Even in Canada, i rarely got outtages... only in the heaviest winter storms would i get them... but a rainstorm or such? Maybe if it was bad enough, i might get some freezing, but it would never completely black out.

We have had DirecTV for quite awhile and have only once lost a picture because of rain...and believe me the sky friggin opened up to do it.Other than that time I haven't had a problem with weather affecting the picture.

Absolutely get DirecTivo and make sure you run the second line to it, it is so worth it.

I have had DTV for like 2 years now. I want to get a tri LNB dish and DTIVO but my mom will flip out at the cost of upgrading our system. :( Anyone know how much it might run?
