Planning to buy a new Video Card: Doubts

Hi to you all

My Pc specifications are:
DualCore AMD Athlon X2 245, 2900 MHz (14.5 x 200)
ECS A790GXM-AD3
2 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM X 2 (4 GB TOTAL)
ATI Radeon HD 3300 Graphics (512 MB) (INTEGRATED)

Now, i have been able to play some old games, like Company of Heroes, Age of empires 3, without a problem.
High settings, but with low resolution.

Im planning to buy a video card that lets me play new games, like GTA IV, Cod, or BF3, with high settings, not maxed out.

So, what should i be looking at? (based on my pc specs clearly)

Thanks for reading

BF3 means probably a GTX 460 or above if you want high settings. Also that CPU may need upgrading to take advantage of any card close to a GTX 460.

Ok, but what settings might i be able to use with a 6770?
Whats the difference, also, between that and the 5770?

Thanks for the answers

With 5770/6770 don't expect anything more than medium settings at most for new games to be playable, especially with your CPU. Of course, resolution is pretty important... On 1024x768 you would be able to play on high, I suppose. On 1080p, you may have to resort to low settings in some games.

If I were you, I might want to consider an entire computer overhaul. You should wait for bf3 reviews and benchmarks though, and it depends on your resolution.

There is no functional difference between the 5770 and 6770. The 6770 is just a rebrand of the 5770 to bring it inline, name wise, with the current 6000 series.

First, thanks to all you guys for caring about some noobs average computer trying to play high end games. 😀

If i were to do that, even though i dont have the money right now, what should i buy?

I was looking a the phenom x4 950, seems pretty solid. With wich video card could i make a "combo" right there?

Thanks again
