Planning out new i7 920 build

Hi all!

I managed to resist temptation by waiting for i7. Now is my time to build. I have chosen my components and plan to order next week. Per Blain's great thread, here is the info that ought to help everybody know what I'm doing.

My PC will be used for general use (email, web browsing), gaming, some light audio production, and perhaps some light AutoCAD usage.

My budget is $1500. With my current choices, I am at that point.

I'm in the US and will be ordering all parts from well regarded web sites.

I don't necessarily have brand preferences. I buy what performs well, has good reviews, and has a decent price.

My old system is an Athlon65 3500+ that was built 4+ years ago when it first came out. The case has had two or three different systems in it, so it's rather done. Here are the items I will move from the old system to the new one: 74GB WD Raptor, 150GB WD Raptor, two DVD burners (one SATA; one IDE), floppy, all my USB devices, and a Gateway FHD2400 24" LCD monitor.

I have read and searched through many threads and reviews. I have a recent post in the memory/storage area about which memory speed I should get for my build.

I would like to do some OCing. I don't think I'm a hardcore OCer -- more of a casual/light OCer. It just depends how easy it is to OC my i7 920.

I plan to order everything in the next week or two.

And now that knowing is half the battle, here is what I plan to get:

Intel Core i7 920 CPU
Gigabyte X58-EX58-UD5 motherboard
6GB DDR3-1600 or DDR3-1333
Geforce GTX260 Core 216
Antec Nine Hundred case
Corsair 750TX power supply
Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium
Arctic Silver 5

Once there is more availability and selection of aftermarket HSFs, I might get one.

So thanks in advance for any thoughts, comments, and/or questions.

edit: changed from 4870 1GB to GTX260 Core 216.

Hi smithrwon!

Thanks for the suggestion on the GTX260 Core 216. I read some reviews of it, and it seems that it performs better than the 4870 512MB and 1GB on every game except two: Crysis (where it performs equal) and Half-Life 2 Episode 2. Since I've already played and beaten both of those games, I doubt I'd go back and play them again. Plus, the card seems to do just fine in both of them, anyway. Thank you very much for the advice. You just saved me nearly $80, which makes getting DDR3-1600 and maybe a nice CPU cooler much easier to handle. :-D
