Hey everyone! I'd just like some help on what to upgrade to this Christmas. As of right now, I have:

AMD Athlon XP 2800 (stock)
eVGA 6800GT
1 gig PC3200
Epox 8RDA3I
500w PSU

I know my CPU is bottlenecking my GPU somewhat, and I think it's time to get a new CPU, that's why I'd like to upgrade. First of all, I'd like to tell you my goals...After upgrading on Xmas I'd like to keep the PC AND NOT UPGRADE for at least 1.5 years. I also wish to overclock the CPU.

So, now what to get? Well first of all, my budget is about $750. I'd like to stay at $700, but if I must, I will go another $50. I think I've already planned on what to get, but I'd like to go over it with you all.

1) I have a Raidmax Scorpio mid tower case. I do not want to put all my components into a full tower, I'd like to keep this case. I only 2 fans on it, one side, and one outtake. I'd like to get an intake (or however as many fans as possible, because that is how I wish to cool the system). So I guess getting some more fans would be about $30...to be safe.

2) For a motherboard/cpu combo, I think the MSI K8N Neo2 Plat and the AMD Athlon 64 3200 939 pin would be awesome. In my head, I'm guessing both together are $350. I'd also like to get some Arctic Silver 5 ($7 I'm guessing) and a better HSF than in the retail (thermalake I think it's called).

3) Finally, RAM. I have some generic 2x512 PC3200 stuff in now (my local PC place traded me my 512 of corsair value and 2x256's for 2x512's of generic stuff so I could run dual-channel, I know, somewhat bad move). I guess Crucial Ballistix sounds good. I'd like 2x512's of those, so I guess that'd be like...$300.

So my total is ~$700. You guys know much more than I, so you know what's good and bad (I guess I do too, but I'm still in my newb phase). :p

Thanks a lot in advance for all the help.

Too much will change between now and then. for me the questions are:

Will 939 finally be cheap enough to afford?
Will .09 A64's be all they are cracked up to be?
Will there be cheaper alternatives to Ballistix?
Will DDR2 drop in price and gain in performance?
Will PCI Express products be out in full force?

For example, A month ago BH5 was the holy grail of memory, with Ballistix and equivalents the benefits of BH5 will become much less rare thus more affordable.
