Planning on getting an i9300

I'm having a bit of a dilemna in buying my Inspiron 9300
I've decided on most of the features, P-M 740, 2200 (b/g) wireless, 80 GB HDD, standard 8x DVD-ROM which I'll be replacing with a NEC from NewEgg, 512 MB of RAM, GF6800, blah blah blah.
However, I'm stumped with choosing the screen, I'm not sure if I want the WXGA or the TruBrite WUXGA. If I get the WUXGA, I'm afraid I won't be able to game for long before the resolution of the screen is too much for the 6800 to handle (at max detail, of course )
But then again, the WXGA doesn't have that fancy ass antiglare thing (TruBrite I presume). Buuuuuut alot of people are complaining about the WUXGA screen. I hope I get a reply soon, I really wanna order my laptop, and I'm trying to find as many forums as possible where I can get some help with the matter

I'd do some more research at talknotebooks.com. It was a big help before I bought my Inspiron 9100 7 months ago.

DUDE! Go WUXGA. You will not believe how amazing the screen is. Clarity redefined. And playing CS:S at 1920 res. w/ all details including AA maxed....complete bliss.

Seriously, it's easy on the eyes. It defaults to a very reasonable type DPI so you can read, and I have the LG screen yet no sparkles to speak of. The "sparkle issue" has dropped tremendously since Dell's sorted that all out. I would've paid $200 at least to upgrade to the UXGA, it's that good.

Well, highest res I've ever used was 1280x1024, and I'm going to be viewing ALOT of text (one of the uses of the laptop is so I can take my online course overseas) so I really need the easiest thing on the eyes. Also, I've heard that you can request Dell use the Samsung panel or bring one out and replace it if you have the at home service thing. Laptop will also be used outside a bit, and on a bus quite a bit. On a side note, I shouldn't have a problem snagging an extra gig of RAM off the egg, as well as getting a NEC 6500A (same drive Dell uses) for 30 bucks less then dell charges? And is this TruBrite thing like that glass coating HP, Sony, and various others use on laptop screens to make them look.......awesome?

EDIT: And I guess it doesn't look like I'll have a problem with gaming, but just in case, does anyone know how well the WUXGA panel fares with scaling up? My Samsung LCD used to do a pretty damn good job at it when I had to when my old graphics card couldn't push the frame rate I wanted.

I just answered a thread just like this the other day...search for it.
I have both screens. Text is a bit small on the UGA for me. Gaming scales down so well that I wouldn't even worry about it. I played through D3 at 1024x768 on the UGA, just because it didn't occur to me to change it. Games look fine at all resolutions. Windows text is slightly less crisp at non-native res.

I would go with the Max you can afford for the warranty as it will be well served if anything does go wrong with your new lappy. As for the screen i would go with the trulife.

Thanks, I called Dell and modified the order already, but I had to make some last minute changes due to a delay on the 80 GB drive that would have gotten the laptop here AFTER I left for a trip, as well as the standard 8x DVD-ROM. Is it hard to replace hard drives, RAM, and optical drives on these things?

No, it's super easy. One screw and the optical drive pops out. 1 screw I believe for the HD. Need to swap the HD caddy which is probably 4 or 6 screws. Ram door has 1 or 2 screws, then both slots are right there....

Sweet, now after I replace this, I assumed my warranty would be null, but the tech actually said it would only nullify the warranty if said parts were the cause of the problem. That's fine for me, cause if the RAMs dead, I can just deal with NewEgg, which is leaps and bounds ahead of Dell when dealing with issues like this, thank god

Just updated the web site with new side by side pics of the uga/xga inspirons. Noticed the 9300 was a little more washed out, even at native res. Guess I'll play with the color settings. I didn't even think to drop the 9300's res to 14x9 and take pics of that....
If anyone wants those let me know.....

Ah, there they are. I am SO happy I upgraded to the WUXGA w/TruLife, text isn't as horribly tiny as I thought, and the gloss coating looks beautiful. I'm gonna remember you when this thing shows up at my front door

I was kinda worried when I read that the "TruLife" thing was so much better, but you know what? IMHO, its just not worth the extra dough. The standard screen looks absolutely gorgeous, even if it is "only" 1440x900.

Just let me say first of all, I LOVE MY 9300! Get the WUXGA, I play SWAT 4 and Half-life 2 at max resolution for both and it looks AWSOME and plays great!
