I bought a sword in Toledo. It was pre-9/11, but it still wouldn't be that big of a deal. Just check it. They give you a sturdy box.

i bought 2 swords about 12 years ago, customs had a right play with them think jedi with swords then they packed them off into the hold...

Still have them now in the original tube they came in..
