this was on the google groups planetquest section

""Hi...folks!

We have just this last week received some additional support
funding so we think we can get to the alpha test sometime in January.
We have the stellar classifier and the initial single-planet detector
now running on BOINC, so when we get the eclipsing binary detector
going we'll just need to add some user-friendly graphics and we'll
have an alpha folks can test.

We sure appreciate all your interest and support! With very best
regards, Laurance Doyle"

Only a couple of years late, but maybe they're getting there (i hope :) )

Well I'll answer my own question then :p

We're building software with which you can search for and discover new planets, classify stars and learn new facts about known stars, learn much more about your world and the universe,
Planet quest

Cool ,I will definatly have to join this one :)

from google groups planetquest group, posted by misfit...

""I applied for the NASA Kepler Science Team and included PlanetQuest
as the educational component of the proposal. I proposed to find
planets in the multiple
star systems that Kepler observes and won the proposal.

So, there will be NASA Kepler spacecraft data in the PlanetQuest
Collaboratory (we'll divvy it up evenly) to look for planets in. What
is amazing about these data is that the precision will be 100 times
anything achieved on Earth -- that is, the detection of Earth-sized
planets around Sunlike stars will be possible."

Thanks again and best regards, Laurance"

haven't seen this anywhere else myself, but i have no reason to doubt misfit :)

dipstick that i am, i sent this yesterday...

"Hi Andy!

Yes, we're working on that. We have just finished a new business plan, so hopefully that will bring in some funds with which we can take the next steps -- get the other two detection algorithms running on BOINC, and update the web site!

Thanks and all the best, Laurance
