I think that anything that focuses one's mind on caring about other people is a very good thing.

I know im privilged and i try to check it everyday. I just feel like a grain of sand in a desert, small and inconsequencial, powerless relative to the grand scheme of things. im planning to make better youtube vids in an attempt to make some kind of dent in the global sense, otherwise, theres nothing more i can do

You can, right now, stand up and make a positive difference in just one person's life.

Find a homeless person and buy him some chicken.

I suggest you figure it out, because if you're looking for community then go look up any philosophy or religion you like, because everything you just said has been thought of before, likely thousands of years ago, and has adherents in some part of the world.

Nuh uh because chess has only been around for about 1500 years, not thousands. It is really nice to have adherents though unless you don't really like sticky things.

He could buy me some fried chicken. That would make a positive difference in my life.

Reminds me of the fact that many complain about the Witcher games getting into strategy and politics when that is core to the Witcher storyworld more or less.
