Planet earth is currently on sale on Amazon, $19.99 for the 4 disc Bluray set, with the original narration by David Attenborough, and not Sigourney Weaver.

The DVD set is around $60, I haven't been paying too close attention but last I check it was ~$40 for this set from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk has had it for around £15($25) for awhile, but wont work depending on your bluray player and takes about 2 weeks to get across the pond.

It's a pretty awesome series. I picked it up last time it was on sale to play in my HT. It's hard to beat at 20 bucks. I think I paid 24 at the time.

I hope they put more of the series on sale, stuff like the space one and oceans etc. I'd love to see those on my big screen too.

Awesome stuff to demo your set up or just to relax and enjoy the wonders of the world.

Thread needs price in the title though.

I believe it's been reported as $13 at Costco B&M, but I couldn't find it last time I was there.

One of the few reasons to own a Blu-ray player. :D

Yeah I heard the same, but no costco close by, and from what I have heard it isn't always in stock.

Link doesn't work and I can't seem to find it by searching either? :\

Seems to be dead at JR at least, since it's up back up to $60 or whatever might've been an error or maybe just sold out, it was frontpage on SD and/or FW at least.

seems like a decent deal but seems like different versions maybe compressed onto less disks. either that or the other sets come with a lot more extras.

the original UK set has 5 discs, the US set has 4 discs, the special edition US set has 5 discs. This is on 4 discs, so it seems normal...

Thanks for the answer. what is the difference between all these sets that have attenbourgh? And what the heck is this? Planet Earth (Six-Disc Special Edition) [Blu-ray] (2011) Its like trying to figure out which version of army of darkness to buy with 10 editions and each something different unless you find the fan one! I really like to pick this up but don't want to be missing anything good. movie shopping used to be simple!

To be honest there is already a LOT of stuff in this 4 disc set, everything that was aired on TV is included in this set, for some extra footage you can pony up for the special edition stuff.

The difference in the Narrator is mostly a preference thing, I much prefer the original David Attenborough to the Sigourney Weaver version done for the US.

I would go ahead and get this 4 disc set, unless you can find the special edition set for under $30, then if you enjoy this I would recommend picking up "Life" as well, sadly the US version was narrated by Oprah Winfrey, and the UK version (Narrated by David Attenborough) is twice as much currently.
