I'm being flown from St. Louis to Houston for the final part of a job interview. I pretty much have the job (fingers crossed), and just need to meet the hiring VP. I'll be working from home mostly, in St. Louis, and the company is based in San Jose. The VP works out of Miami and she was originally going to fly into St. Louis and meet me at the airport. She said she's slammed with more critical business, so instead she wants to fly me to Houston next week because she will be there for some meetings. I'm just going to fly into Houston, get interviewed at the airport, then fly back home.

Well she sent me eTicket info for the flight she booked. I arrive in houston at 12:30 and leave at 3:30.

I have an Iten# (itinerary) and a flight#. It says I can check in online 24 hours before the flight. Do I get a ticket to print out then? Or do I just need to have the Flight number and provide that when I get to the terminal to check in?

Sales Engineer.. Sit at home.. make flow charts, play with hardware. They said I'll be on a plane about once a week to do live Demos. I'm going to basically be the tech sidekick to the company's top sales rep. I interviewed with two guys that did the job before and they said the first 6 months are kind of rough getting used to all the tech stuff thats specific to the company, but then after that it's cake. One of them said work ebbs and flows, and I might go days where I sit at home and play video games (or play with your girlfriend/wife) until the rep has something for me to do. :p He said you just have to be there ready to work on stuff and turn the game off or put the girl down if the rep calls and needs something asap.

eticket is eticket. you should be able to go to the airline's site right now, put in your name and confirmation number and see your info. can check in for your flight and pick seats 24hr before takeoff. print your boarding pass as well, or wait till you get to the airport and checkin at the counter with photo id.

Thanks! All I needed. I figured it was simple enough.

My dad worked for American Airlines (TWA) for years, and I had a terminal pass. I was basically pre-approved for flights and it just billed his payroll. For years I was able to just walk right through the terminal and hop on any plane I wanted. I loved it.

Egencia is just the corporate travel version of Expedia. My company uses them for all our travel. You are good to go.

Impossible.. I'm getting picked over a guy who has more tech experience than me simply because he has no sales experience. You're working one on one with their top sales guy. You need to have a sales frame of mind and the technical background to back it up.

Eh.. it's a bit different than that.. at least for this job.

It's a technical job, but I'll be on sales calls, doing live demos, and backing up the sales rep with technical 'expertise'.

For this 'sales from of mind', the 'don't go into tech details' is reserved for the sales rep. My job WILL be to go into tech details, demo the product, and come up with integration solutions based on the customer's existing infrastructure.

The catch is they need someone with sales experience and tech experience.
