Actually this is the cheapest 19" LCD at Dell as on today and is not listed on the other post..... Gave it a new topic so that it would not get lost in the bunch of replies to the other topic....

The PL191M is an updated version of the PL190M, different bezel, etc. but they are basically the same. If you play any games and don't want any ghosting by a PX171 instead (which is what I did).

I bought the PL191M and then returned it, ghosting was too bad, not to mention that my screen started sprouting dead pixels after 3 days of use... I've had my PX171 for about a week now, works excellent! Battlefield 1942 runs great with no ghosting, plus no dead pixels either.

I too have a new Planar with 3 dead pixels within a week.

I get the feeling that Planar has serious pixel issues. I'd be interested in finding out how many others are suffering with problematic dead pixels. I personally feel that it is unacceptable, especially now with other manufacturers showing very few dead pixels anymore.

Steven:

I got 1 dead pixel a couple of days later on my PL191 too. I am returning it and getting a PX191 because of ghosting.

I see no ghosting in BF1942 on the PL191 but then, I heard the PX191 performs much better at the same screen size/.

in general, what are the manufacturer's policy regarding dead pixels? i'm thinking they probably will not replace the monitor for one dead pixel. do they have a minimum threshold?

Serpent: I was thinking about getting the PX191, it certainly sounded like a good deal, I get one later, for now this PX171 is working well.

Cybordolphin: I have seen alot of people have dead pixels with PL191s, even some test models sent to review sites (Gamepc.com comes to mind) had bad pixels!

spanky: I think the reason why Planar has such a good return policy is because of the lack of quality control with some monitors. There was no minimum threshold for dead pixels that I saw for their return policy.

I am happy with this PX171, but if it gets many bad pixels I'm going to send it back and never buy another Planar again!

You're only 498 short.

Did we really need two people complaining about people complaining that is was a repost?
