FAQ:
=======
1) We're buying from Dell Small Business, what if we don't have a Small Business? Be creative and think of a company name, they DO NOT verify it.
2) Dell Small Business charges sales tax in all states except for those who have zero sales tax, such as my state of Oregon.
3) How do you combine the Dell 20% off and eBates 2% off together? First click the 20% off link, add your RAM and whatever else to your cart, open a new web browser window leaving the first one open and in tact (do not close it), go to www.ebates.com click Computers & Electronics, click Dell Small Business, click cart and complete your order as usual. The eBates ad banner should always be at the top of your screen, always. My eBates account was credited 2% within 3 days.
4) What do other ATers think of this LCD? Here's a few General Hardware threads I encourage you to read:

How do these LCD specs compare? btw. Dell and Planar

PLANAR 17.4

Do Planar LCD's come w/ a DVI cable?

Best 18"- 19" LCD for gaming Sony or Planar?

Planar 18.1 lcd owners, is your lcd a B-class screen

Does anyone have reviews for this LCD?

How does this compare with the very popular SGI 1600SW?

Last but not least is this a warm or hot deal?

This is pretty hot if you're in the market and you've got the cash. Nice post. :D

FYI: 3-5 day FREE Ground Shipping expires this Thursday 10/11. Who knows... maybe they'll extend it, but that's how it currently stands. And, the 20% deal ends Sunday 10/14.

Nice compilation of links for info...

Here's one of the best ones:
Planar 17" LCD (analog) $479.20 or ~$100 more for Digital one ! EDIT: Now even Hotter with Free Shipping !

It essentially covers all the questions people had last time this was 20% off (except we had to pay tax).

I have one of these and it is purely amazing. No ghosting whatsoever in Quake 3. The color is better than my roommates Viewsonic VG175..

Oh yeah, if you look at the specs at Planar.com, don't really pay attention to either of the spec sheets for the 18.1". They're both wrong. Essentially, the 18.1" is the 17.4" with a little bit of a larger viewable screen.

I've been toying with the idea of getting in on this deal, but I just spent $365 not 2 months ago on the Nokia 445Pro 21" trini CRT deal, so I'm a bit leery of shelling out double that for a slightly smaller monitor, even tho it's a flat-panel. I think I'll stand pat with the extra 1.5" of viewable for now and wait for FPD prices to come down even more (hopefully Dell will still be having the occasional 20% off).
