planar 17.4 . . . does this use flourescent backlights?

may seem foolish, but the form factor looks a lot like a machine we use at work. the monitor failed one day when we spilled something on it and i was there when the tech was repairing it. he took it apart and viola, there were a series of small flourescent tubes. he replaced them and it worked like a charm, bright as ever. just thought this tft might use the same principle, like the video projectors. any thoughts, or should i call the company?
