Placing old hard drive from dell computer into new build tomorrow

I have a hard drive with windows vista and all of my programs already in my old Dell that I am typing on right now. I am picking up the power supply for my new build tomorrow, and I'd like to just put this hard drive in the new build. Will this work? Or will I have to format the hard drive and reinstall windows?

Chances are that it will NOT work. You may get away with a repair install. If I had to bet, I'd say a format and reinstall is in your future.

You will need to...
1. Buy a legit version of Vista or XP.
2. Install that version of Vista or XP on your HD.
3. Call Bill Gates, confess and apologize for trying to pull a fast one on him.
4. Stop being so cheap and/or lazy.

"...Will this work? . . ." No!
" . . . will I have to format the hard drive and reinstall windows? . . . " Yes!

And you will have to use a different copy. OEM software is not transferable.
