Placing bottom-mounted power supply PC on carpet

I'm putting together a bottom-mounted power supply PC. The power supply is a Corsair 550W unit and the fan points faces down. The case has a grill under where the power supply is placed.

I had planned to place my PC on the floor under my desk. But my floor is berber (sp?) carpet, and despite its relative non-squishyness, the case feet will still sink down into the carpet such that the case will eventually touch the carpet. I'm thinking this will impede airflow from the power supply, right?

Should I place a flat piece of wood or other material and rest the PC onto of that?

yes, i would elevate that thing at least a few inches off the carpet. and be prepared to be cleaning that intake more often than the other fans

Ah, I thought it was an exhaust rather than intake. I might have to reconsider placing it on the floor. I didn't want to put it on my desk because the USB ports are at the top of the case. But that may be what I have to do.

Can you invert your power supply so the fan faces upward (i.e into the main cavity of the case) rather than downward? It may defeat some of the benefits of having the power supply airflow separated from the case airflow, but having your case sitting on a carpet wouldn't matter so much.

I flipped mine so the fan faces the gpu and it's better than having it face the floor, it pushes out hot air from the gpu and keeps it self cool.

I ended up keeping the fan facing the floor, but raised the case by having the front and back feet sit on 3/4-inch pieces of wood. Almost likes skis, except sideways rather than front-to-back. So the case is now about 1.5-inch up off the floor.
