Places to see in Sydney

I just arrived in Sydney and will be be spending the next 4 months studying at Macquarie University. I have read about the many attractions but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of must see sights, restaurants, bars, etc.

Hmm I am from Sydney. I suggest the following (OTTOMH):

* Harbour Bridge
* Opera House
* George St/Pitt St for shopping
* Parramatta for all round entertainment and shopping
* Olympic Park (home of the 2000 olypmics)
* Watch some NRL or AFL games while you are here
* Botanical Gardens
* Darling Harbour
* Chatswood Chase shopping centre (close to your Uni)
