My wife and I are going to England in September. Whatare some "must sees" while we are there? We are staying with friends just south of London.

London is very tourist-friendly. Their city pamphlet maps have all the major landmarks placed as picture icons. Hit all those and you're good. I was in London 4 years ago.

Westminster Abbey
London National Gallery
Trifalgar Square
what's the square with Sanyo & TDK neons on it? Well, nothing really there anyway
Walk the beautiful Millenium Bridge
Buckingham Palace

Right outside of Tower of London, there is a 30-min ferry back to Big Ben area. That's also lots of fun, the captain speaks over PA with lots of info. It was only 15 pounds or so (if that).

Also ride those lame Tourist buses. Worth it as a tourist.

Jump the train and head north to the City of York. One of the most amazing little Cities I've ever been to.

Depends on how long you'll be there, what your interests are, and how far you are willing to travel. There's beautiful areas in Wales, Scotland and NW England for example, but you'd be on the road 8 hours or so to get to the Lake District (NW England) from the south, leaving you with little time to walk around unless you spend the night in the area.

So... decide first what your priorities are.

Don't waste all your time in London. Get out and see our countryside. Windsor isn't far and the Great Park is beautiful on a sunny day.
