Places to go for Labor Day weekend within a 200-250 mile radius of Raleigh, NC?

No Lifer
Wanna put together something for my GF and I to do this Labor Day weekend. NC is played out for us. We've been all over NC and done just about everything there is to do here. Axe out Myrtle Beach as well.

We're up for just about anything. Suggestions?

Charleston SC, nothing like the beach on labor day.

Gimme a hollar and we can meet up for drinks.

Yeah, I was thinking that. My buddy is getting transferred down there by Cummins Turbo Diesel and was just there this past weekend looking for houses. I'd like to go there, but I bet hotels are expensive as hell in that area.

Then there's that damn hurricane coming. I'd hate for us to get there and then get *&^#ed over on weather

check out the Hampton Inn on Daniel's Island. Our clients stay there and love it plus it's next to Queen Anne's Revenge which is an aweomse local restruant with the largest collection of authentic pirate artifacts. How can you go wrong with pirates? Excellent crab cakes BTW.

Williamsburg, VA? Washington DC? Charleston, SC? That's about all I have. For me, I'm staying in lovely Durham doing some much needed yardwork. Sigh...to be young, in love and free...

Rafting and camping (Hartford, TN) in the Pigeon River. Some friends work for these guys http://www.usaraft.com/

Went there last summer and it was a blast. There are several other companies/rivers to choose from.

We're saving rafting for later in the fall when her brother and his GF can join us 😀

Well, all I need to do now is get my GF to ditch her parents. She had originally told them that she would spend the time when them at Holden Beach, NC for the long weekend. Pffff...they can get over it 😀

For Charleston look for Internet specials for the Planters Inn - I was there all week for the NGA conference a few weeks back at a great rate caught after just a few minutes googling. It is a very nice place - big thick beds, decent bathrooms, free wireless, great location (right in the middle of things and just across the street from a very nice cigar shop.)

It was extraordinarily hot however - personally I am heading for the Mountains and cool, fish-filled streams around Monterrey, VA 🙂
