Got a Digital Doc 5, 80G Maxtor 7200 and 27G Maxtor 7200 rmp HDDs. Have under 80G drive a cooling fan blowing on underside of drive.

1. Where is best place for sensor for 80g drive? I'm guessing that under, on heatsink is not so good, given the cool air from fan hits that area.
2. In general, for an uncooled drive where is the best location to place a sensor?

Thanks.

Heh...Almost got the same setup. DigitalDoc5, two Maxtors, both have aluminum hard drive coolers with two little fans each, running at 6v. I put the sensors for the DigitalDoc on the top of each drive, about 1" from the back.

Probably doesn't matter where you put the sensors. The idea is to be able to monitor temp changes. Under high cpu/hard drive usage, the master drive registers about 33.6c. The sensors are held on by a little square of duct tape.
