Placement of Rear 5.1 Speakers.

I have a problem.

Look at pic.

Now tell me were I can place the rear channels in my 5.1 setup. Would all the way across the room be too far? (BTW, thats my comp. room, like the carpet?)

I'm having trouble figuring this out as I have never has a 5.1 system before. I am hoping I'll like it.

Any Suggestions?

What system are you going to be getting?

You should set it up like this if you can.

P.S. Awesome rig!!!

Actually, for computer gaming, you want the 'rear' speakers further behind you if possible (at ~135 degrees), since they will play noises of things that are happening directly behind you in-game. For watching DVDs, they can be more off to the sides, because the 'surround' speakers are just used for environmental effects and offscreen sounds. Similarly, you probably want the front left/right speakers at more like ~45 degrees.

Yeah... it's tough to layout 5/6/7.1 speakers in a lot of rooms. You could put them on the far side of the room; it doesn't look like it's *too* far. For ideal placement, you'd probably have to use floor stands or suspend them from the ceiling, but that's not always practical. 😛
