Working on a stereo system almost from the ground up - active crossover, 8-channel amp, 4-way dipole speakers

Might get around to building my own DAC but I think there are plenty good sources out there, and using one that works with today's encoded surround sound would be convenient

Progress for the speakers can be checked here or at http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=67252.0

Progress for the crossover and amps can be checked here

Are you 454Casull on that forum? Seems like you have two differen designs? I don't know much about dipole except what I have read about Sigfried Linkwitz's Orion+.

The second design seems pretty interesting with the minimum/no baffle approach.

Yes. The first design I threw away because I needed to get away from the traditional baffle approach which gave me too much of a baffle around the drivers.

Let me get this straight you are using a magnet to mount the driver?
Wouldn't the mount on the mount interfere with the magnet in the driver?
Really cool design!

If I understand what you are trying to say, no. But I eventually moved to a flange mount because the two flat bars wouldn't grip the magnet well enough to prevent the driver from rotating downward under its own weight. I figured I would cut my losses and go with the flange mount brackets rather than spend any more time and money on the magnet mount.

EDIT: You meant to say "magnet on the mount" rather than "mount on the mount", right? No, the system is entirely mechanical.
