Tire Rack is great and very cheap too. Make sure you know a good automotive tire shop that will put on the new tires.

I would seriously recommend you going to sam's club, costco where the prices are competitve and they mount the new tires and dispose of the old ones for $9.00 a piece. That price usually includes road hazard too. Walmart also has tires too. If they carry the size you have, that would be a good idea because dealing with them about road hazard issues would be easy. They take anything back.

Tirerack is the way to go for higher end tires.. Good luck !

Any alternative? I bought from Tire Rack, no problems, and will probably buy from them again next month. I have no selection locally, just no-name tires or the grandpa sedan types at Wal-Mart.

I posted this question on another forum and there were NO negative posts about tirerack.com. There were about two full pages of people saying that they bought from tirerack and were more than satisfied with the service, tires and the price.

Definitely tirerack.com ... never heard of any other... not that I've ever tried to buy tires online. How does it work ? They send you a BIG box one day and the rest is up to you ? How much is shipping for four 16"?

Tirerack is good. The problem is getting them mounted without being ripped off. Some shops may be upset you are bypassing their profit margins by bringing in your own tires and therefore charge you additional fees to have them mounted.

I got tires for one of my cars from them. They just ship you the tires. They aren't in a box or anything. Once you get them, you just take them to any tire place to be mounted. Shipping wasn't that much IIRC and I was impressed by the service. So another positive vote from me.

Like someone already mentioned, go to a Costcos or Sams Club to get them mounted for $9.00 which is mount, balance and disposle fee.

Shipping depends on where you live and which warehouse you order your tires from. Don't you live on the Island? Between $30 (Delaware warehouse) and $60 (Nevada warehouse) for me out on the East End.

Discount Tire is also another place you could try to buy tires online. They usually have cheap tire and wheel combos. I've never bought from them though, I have only ever used Tirerack and have never been disappointed with them.
