Pl. help...CPU over powered by processes

Hi:

For some mistirious reason, my client's laptop over powered by some process/es. showing 100% cpu usage without runing any programes. I can't even run msconfig or regedit. It was working fine before, so I know that is not the problem. It has win XP pro OS. If I run in safe mode, it shows normal CPU usage.

Try an antivirus scan, if you haven't done that already. Be sure to use the latest virus definitions.

is the pc running service pack 1a? this is supposedly an issue with service pack 1 and is fixed in 1a.....

after virus scan, run spybotsearchanddestroy and adaware.
