pizza delivery (papa jons specifically)

i just ordered a pizza from papa jons and had a coupon

(14.99 and i get 2 med pizzas with 2 toppings on each)

the total came out to about 17.89

did they include the tip there? or is it some hidden charge like tax or something, and i still have to pay the tip?

Delivery fee. Been there as long as I remember, and at other chains as well.

I tip above this, usually 2-3 bucks

Delivery Fee, and sales tax.
And tip the pizza guy or Ryan will come kill you in your sleep.

oh yeah... my friend works for dominos and they reimburse your gas, is that pretty much the delivery fee?

There's a delviery charge - but this does not go to the driver - I cannot stress that enough. Rather than raise the price of the pizzas, most stores now charge a delivery fee to suppliment the costs of employment for all employees, and the high costs of food.

Delivery fee + sales tax.

Tip the delivery boy whatever you feel like tipping him.

Papa Johns keeps most of the delivery fee, it is not a tip. You should tip $2+ on top of it unless you receive poor service.

or ryan is my delivery guy right? 😛

Former delivery driver here...

anyways, if the place charges me a fee, they can bet it will come out of the drivers tip. If the driver gets pissed then let the management know, I'm not going pay both.

They let you type in your tip amount online. Dunno if you missed it.

Only certain stores are setup to accept tip amount via the online delivery service, FYI 😉

A question for you people.

Is papa johns the best pizza you can get in your areas? I really hope not.

Yeah - because that's going to change anything. You think upper management cares?

Probably not. Delivery drivers totally disposable.

most likely not, still not going to change my thoughts about it though.

So instead of raising the price of the food the raised the price of the food and try to hide it. I say screw the driver.

I never order from there, but as others have said, places usually charge a delivery fee that the driver doesn't get. I usually leave a tip 3 bucks or so per if it's nice weather, or 4 bucks or so per pizza if it's crappy weather. Add an extra buck per extra pizza delivered. (This is of course for Lou Malnati's Large Pan Pizzas. Each one can feed 4 normal adults, or Two of me.)

But see - you run into an even bigger problem by not tipping. If drivers don't make money via tips because assholes don't want to tip, the position becomes hard to fill, the business is forced to pay drivers more to prevent them from quitting and to suppliment tips, and in turn the business tacks on 2-3 more dollars for delivery charges.

One local place here already charges 3+ bucks for delivery.
