Pixma IP5000

I'm getting a new printer and the IP5000 looks pretty sweet. One problem, from what I've read the North American version doesn't have CD/DVD printing....but the European one does. Anyone have any ideas where I should start looking?

Thanks

Ugh...I think I posted this too soon. I think the reason I'm having difficulty finding it is due to its newness. Right now I've found it at some places for $280+ (not with shipping.) Maybe it's time to start looking into modifying the US version.

I have the IP4000 myself, and it seems to be the same story - the US version that I bought doesn't support CD printing, but the European version does. I didn't realize it at the time when I bought it last month, but luckily it's not that important to me either way. I would be interested to know if it's possible to modify it though.

Sorry to keep my own little topic going here 😉. I have an important question, however, as I'm about to order this from an Australian shop.

Will the foreign drivers (AUS) install on my Windows XP pro? Or is it going to give me some sort of "this hardware is not designed for your region and cannot be installed" message? I've never done anything like this (installed foreign hardware on a US machine), so an input would help me and save me some $$ before I order it.

Thanks a bunch.

You can thank the lawyers and CD makers for that.
