Pixel Shader Processors

According to X-Bit Labs

They say:

Radeon X1900 with 48 pixel shader processors, 16 TMUs and 16 ROPs clocked at up to 650MHz or GeForce 7900 with 32 pixel processors, 32 TMUs and 16 ROPs clocked at up to 750MHz

Is there a difference between Pixel Shader processors and Pixel Processors? Or are they in general, reffering to Pixel Pipelines?

I think they're just using two terms for the same thing there.

All the GF7s have 1 pixel shader per pipeline (so if it ends up having 32 pipelines, it'll have 32 pixel shaders). The R580 is supposed to have 3 per pipeline (or 48 total).

16 pipes, but 48 pixel shaders (up from 16). Geometry processing won't be much better, but it should handle heavy-duty pixel shaders better. Should be interesting to see how the benchmarks shake out. :p

I think the G71 might win this one...Looks pretty good and if 750MHz is correct...Uh oh.

Well, yeah, 32 pipes at 750Mhz would be awfully fast (and probably awfully expensive)... but I'll have to see it on a store shelf first. :p

Even at the same clocks as R580, ~650MHz, a 32 pipe G71 sounds more powerful and more flexible. But I'm willing to be surprised. :)
