Pixel out on laptop

I just got an HP zv6000 laptop 2 months ago and I noticed yesterday that a pixel went out. Its still under warranty, so I sent it in. My question is, what causes a pixel to go out? Is there anything I can do to prevent it?

Thanks!

Sometimes you can restore a "dead" pixel by gently massaging it. Most LCD vendors require more than one dead p[ixel to replace the screen. Some require at least 9.
