Pixel just died on my T43

To make it even more irritating some idiot is telling me you can 'massage' them back to life :disgust:

I've never had a pixel die on a laptop display before, I've only ever had acer machines before though, this is a big negative for IBM.

Actually, you can, but YMMV though. I did it on my GF's HP laptop.

If it's a stuck pixel, not a dead pixel. I have one on my Inspiron 8200's LCD, haven't been able to get it unstuck.

I love IBMs/Lenovo, but the screen on my T43 is pretty crappy. It sure don't seem like they spend much on their screens so it doesnt suprise me.

Yeah I love my T43 more than any notebook I've had, it's in a whole class of its own.

I assume the reason they don't put much effort into the screen is due to the fact that it's so well protected by the casing, even pressing on it lightly doesn't show any of the ripples you'd expect to see on 80% of notebooks.

I massaged mine back on my monitor 🙂

How long did it take you?

You can't massage a dead pixel back usually. The chances are very slim.

Massaging works better for stuck pixels (i.e. they're always a certain color). Dead pixel usualy means the bulb is dead. If the bulb is dead, you're screwed. Do you massage light bulbs back to life? Nope.

I've dropped my laptop, abused it to the max, and no dead pixels. I've broken 3 hard drives too from drops and shock, but the LCD is still good.
