Pixel C might be Released Next Week

How many people see Android tablets other than bargain bin junk, let alone spend $500 on one? I don't think not many.

People were saying the same thing about Windows tablets when the Surface was first announced/released.

I don't really care if it's a big success or not, I just care if it's worthwhile for myself to buy one.

Either way, it's overdue. The Android tablet market as of late has followed the PC market: ceding the high ground to Apple and embracing that "race to the bottom" mentality. I doubt the Pixel C will make Apple nervous sales-wise, but it could prove that high-end Android tablets are still viable.

Eh I think the high end tablet space will end up with a duopoly between Windows and iOS, not Android.

Surface sales have taken off this fall and the 4 is a very capable machine, an equal and differentiated competitor to the higher SKU iPads.

Android has never taken advantage of large form factors, have few tablet optimized apps, and don't match the current iPad in anything but maybe display quality.

In my opinion it won't do well positioned at the same price point as the iPad, but let's see.
I would agree, but I don't think Google is expecting volume sales. It's like the Chromebook Pixel, expensive, but not a seller. If they wanted sales, they would've gone with another manufacturer and made a successor to the N7, and priced it $199/$249.

I'm in no rush to be an early adopter, but I might pick one up in a few months... or I might just wait for the inevitable Pixel C 2016 edition.
