I bought the Dell 1905FP LCD for christmas and forgot about the pivot feature. After reading the review I'm curious about useing it. I don't suppose you can go grab samsungs software anywhere? Otherwise what are some good 3rd-party pivot software solutions.

There's that WinPortrait Pivot software which has been around a long time, but it doesn't work nearly as well as the NVRotate feature in the newer Detonator drivers that works on all GF4 and later cards.

The problem with WinPortrait Pivot is it really sucks if you have multiple portrait displays and/or a CRT involved. It wants you to rotate all your pivoted displays the same direction. If not, it'll just reset them to the same direction each time you reboot. It also forces all your displays to 60 Hz (although you can override this with something like PowerStrip).

Thanks, that works but could become a problem for those without the permissions to go into the Nvidia display settings and mess with it. I thought I heard of some that would automatically Pivot the screen as you turned the monitor? Are those built-in only? Thanks.

the monitor would have to send a signal to the computer . . .

It's time for you to buy the IT people lunch.

ok so auto won't work, how about binding the rotate function to a key or mouse button? Is there any program that would set something like that up?

The DELL monitors don't have an sensor for the pivot, so it doesn't know it's orientation.

As powerMarkymark mentioned, if you have an Ati or Nvidia video card, then you don't need extra software. I have my ATI driver software set so that I can use a hotkey when I pivot.
