PIV decided now which and mobo and ram

I have decided I want a retail PIV to complete my quiet system. Now with a retail processor what combo do I get for overclocking. Specifically what mobo is the best board to OC the processor? I want a 533 (845E or G) board. Is sis a viable option for me keeping in mind that I want the ability to pop in a native 533mhz fsb processor in a year to year and a half. (IE need reliable bios updates) do I want 3200 2700 ddr? what ddr? What processor is best bet to OC out of the box, specifically will a 1.6A be a better bet than a 2.0A?

Defiantly get the 1.6. It gives u a bigger and almost effortless overclock over the 2.0. It's also very cheap also.
Rumors has it that u get more performance with the Intel chipsets over sis.
Get some good ram like Samsung or corsair...if your rams crap you?ll have trouble overclocking.

The Intel 845E or G don't come with the 4:5 ratio for running pc2700 memory at optimal timings. If you go with one of these chipsets, I would get a board that has a ddram voltage adjustment and bump the voltage up by .2 volts to try running at the 2:3 ratio (or could be listed as 4:6). Personally, if I were gonna overclock I would just get the asus p4s533 (with the sis 645dx chipset) and some samsung pc2700 memory. Go with the 1.6a or 1.8a for best value and overclocking.

Not true. The 845E (the good obes anyway) have a 3:4 mem raio available. Some are crippled by not allowing the ratio @ 133 and higher FSB, but there are many that allow it @ any speed. AFAIK, all 845G boards have 4:5 and 3:4 ratios available @ any FSB speed. For the best performing board with flexable mem ratio support, you want an 845G board.

The 1.6A is a good choice. They overclock VERY easily to 533 FSB, and most go quite a bit higher. It depends on how good a chip you get. Samsung PC2700 is a good choice for ram.

Ok so I will get either a 1.6A or 1.8A. I will decide depending on money after I choose mobo and ram.

other than p4s533 (a sis chipset) what would you recomend for 845 G &E? I'm partial to Abit and Asus but others are ok too.

2700 ram is cool I can handle that, I dont need to think allong the lines of 3000 or 3200 ram? Would such ram be a good idea for a year from now?
