Saw this is yesterday's news. Seems no one picked up on it.

https://www.yahoo.com/gma/pittsburg...president-204104390--abc-news-topstories.html

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-brief...ired-after-seeing-many-of-anti-trump-cartoons

"Rogers told Philly.com his termination came after the newspaper’s editorial director, Keith Burris, killed six of his cartoons while he was on vacation in May."

"According to Philly.com, the longtime cartoonist has seen 19 of his cartoons and ideas axed since Burris assumed the position in March. Burris's controversial editorial defending Trump’s “shithole countries” remark brought considerable backlash to the paper in January.

Here are a few of the cartoons they refused to print:

Meh, they should be able to fire him for expressing views they don’t agree with. The paper might be shitty but that’s for their readers to decide.

So, conservative snowflakes, remember this next time some racist gets fired from a job for saying shitty things.

First off, I have no problem with this firing, its their right and they chose to exercise it.

Having said that though, it shows how the right fortifies its bubble to protect the cult. Compare that to the "liberal" media who has a ton of right leaning pundits giving opinions and editorials.

I don't know how to fix this but it should definitely be called out for what it is, purification of their cult.

There is a massive mainstream media bubble. A perfect example of this is Star Wars The Last Jedi. All sites with fans have around 50% or less liking the film. An unbelievably horrific score for a Star Wars movie. Meanwhile 91% of the "objective" critics like it. This is just one example among thousands of blatant bias in the mainstream media. This demonstrates the absolute power of Disney over mainstream media reporting on their movies. Disney has been allowed to grow so large and powerful that the media can no longer objectively critique Disney's work product without it impacting negatively on the mainstream media's bottom line.

I recently watched Cobra Kai on youtube (the first two episodes were free and I liked them so much I signed up for youtube Red. It was far far better than ANYTHING I have seen at the movies or on TV in nearly a decade. I was frankly shocked that such a politically incorrect piece of media would ever be allowed in our increasingly censorious culture.

You could save us all a ton of time and just post, "both sides".

I don't even know what your point was about Disney and movie reviews and what that has up do with the mainstream media.

You spoke of how the right fortifies it's bubble to protect the cult, buyers of the news paper, who, like Disney would suffer economically if the truth were published. There is the issue, however, that film critics don't work for Disney but the cartoonist was squelched by the paper. Anyway we need to know if Cobra Kai is any good before we shut him up.

Read an article about this in this morning's paper.
Marlette: Cartoonist crackdown is no coincidence

It was written by Andy Marlette, nephew of Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Doug Marlette and ends with the following:

"Because when you stare at a photograph of a president smiling and schmoozing and standing shoulder to shoulder with a murderous tyrant, it’s almost impossible to recognize our nation’s founding principles, faith and values.
But when you look at the lines inked by folks like Rob Rogers, what truly makes America great couldn’t be clearer.
It’s the symbolism, stupid. And in these strange American days we're living in, a crackdown on cartoonists is no coincidence."

The paper may have the right to fire him, but the fact that they chose to exercise it is yet another sad day for the country.

Really? Which "sites with fans?" No, I mean it -- I actually want you to list several examples, and illustrate how you obtained that "50% or less" figure from each of them.

Something tells me you can't, though, and that you'll have a convenient excuse for it. And that your definition of "fan" is going to be very elitist, as if the many people who enjoyed the movie, or the mainstream reviewers, weren't 'real' fans. Here's a hint: Star Wars has always been about entertaining the wider public, not the hardcore devotees, and mainstream reviewers are not going to get hung up on whether or not it's true to a fan's myopic definition of what's acceptable.

Given that you just celebrated Cobra Kai for being "politically incorrect," that probably speaks volumes about the real reasons you object to Last Jedi (i.e. the actual quality of the movie has little to do with it).

There is a mainstream bubble, but this is not really an example of it. I'm far more concerned about news outlets that gloss over the Trump administration's serious crimes, or focus on superficial Hollywood gossip over important social issues.

I’m not surprised at all that a movie that triggers nerd rage gets a bad RT score. That seems to be a community that would be highly likely to vote on that site, haha.

The Last Jedi was my third favorite, after ESB and A New Hope. Great movie. I think the people who didn’t like it wanted them to keep making copies of the original trilogy instead of making new and interesting movies.

Or, it could just be that it was new but not particularly good or interesting.

Sycophants fire those that cry the "Emperor has no clothes!". Protecting one's delusions is always easier then admitting to them.
