Pitchers and Catchers February 14th?

I believe I heard the Red Sox announce February 14th for pitchers and catchers.

Its baseball season.

10 days until pitchers and catchers--2/14/08
22 days until first Spring Training game--2/26/08
56 days until Opening Day--3/31/08




Your Sawx start the season in Japan a few days earlier (Mar 25th?) against the A's. I remember the Mets playing the Cubbies there in 2000. I woke up at 4:30am to watch 'em!

Why do you feel spring training is awesome?

It's a good chance to get a look at younger guys in the organizations. Plus, guys who are guaranteed to make the team are just out there having fun. It's like college for them. I don't put too much stock in the results, but the atmosphere puts a smile on my face.
