I had a neighbor when I was a kid that hung a bowling ball from a rope off of a tree. The pit/rot mix would hang from it for what seemed like hours.

Apparently it is possible for them to get stuck like that.

Non radial tire works better. I had a Pit that loved to hang from one and try to tear it to pieces. Good exercise for them too.
