Piston slap?

Now I'm hearing a hollowed muffled almost bell like sound. It sounds the same cold or hot. When I first started the car in the morning I don't hear no chatter or anything. There is like a little bit of glitter looking stuff in last oil change not much but just enough to wonder. The car is a 2000 Pontiac Grand am 2.4L 243,168 miles ... When at a light in car I can't even tell it is running. Seems loud with hood up and cam rec.... Runs great you will be going 85-90 like crap I need to slow down haha

That was a piston out of my 89 dodge caravan 2.5l with around 150k miles on it. It had a decent amount of piston slap. Piston slap is usually worse when the engine is cold and as the engine heats up and everything expands quiets down at least some. By your discription it sounds more like rod but it isn't easy to do these things over the net. At 243k miles there really isn't much you can do either way that makes sense. If it is just piston slap you really don't have anything to worry about and you can drive another 100k miles, if it is a rod well you will know soon 😀.

So like I changed the oil and it seems better hahaha ... I fix cars all the time and am good with it. But when it's mine I seriously overthink the littlest sounds.
