i thought they wore protection for exactly that reason, like a kevlar vest or something. isn't this fairly common in motorcycle drag racing? people who don't wear a vest would probably be dead pretty fast. a piston plowing through your chest is not something u can walk off

I remember seeing a methanol-injected Hemi in a tractor puller once. They run like 19:1 final drive ratios in those beasts.
