Pirates of the Caribbean 3 dvd looks...bad??

Thought I'd let AT'er's look and see before anyone bought it and wondered 'wtf?' If you're not the type of person (like me) who likes to read reviews of a dvd before buying, this might help you a bit. It doesn't look terrible , but the image is hazy and dull and rather unremarkable for such a high profile film. edit: Probably mainly due to this being such a long film along with lots of previews on the disc and dubbed language options.

Wow, that does look bad. Before reading the review, I wondered the same thing the reviewer did - Did they intentionally botch the DVD transfer to make the Blu-Ray version look better?

The stupid format war needs to be over soon - there's a lot of Blu-Ray movies I'd like but I don't really want to drop ~$400 on a PS3 to play them.

yuck... that screenshot of the face-off is really terrible... it should be nice, bright and detailed... instead, it looks like a bad Chinese transfer...

They need to just drop prices on the combo players so it doesn't matter.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I know that the other films are lengthy for one disc as well, but the quality on those were so much better. I almost have to agree with the dvd reviewer...they've purposefully done something wrong to make it look that funky.

is pirates 1 disc? did they cram it in on one disc with special features to be cheap?

That's a two disc edition. I suppose disc one is the movie, disc two is special features.

EDIT, and yeah, it does look rather terrible.
