I've owned my house for over a decade and this started a couple of weeks ago.

after I flush my toilet and the tank is almost completely refilled, I hear a squealing noise.

whats going on?
how do I fix it?

It is probably the moving parts in the tank.
In the back of the toilet is a hose with a valve on it just close the valve to turn the toilets water off. Take the lid off the tank and scoop some of the water out with a cup or pitcher
then pull the arm with the float up and down and see if that is whats squealing.

It might be calcium build up or rust in one of the moving parts and just needs to be cleaned.

Its the fill valve. Its getting weak and not closing all the way till fully seated and makes the noise. Just replace the inlet valve (can get in a kit with new flap) and inspect/replace the flap while in there as well.

So you're bitching because the toilet is whistling at you? Anyone else ever whistle at you? Take em where you can get em. :p

Yeah, the flush valve.

I just tell the little lady it's a feature. As long as the pot doesn't leak or run over......
