I found this reciever in a garbage and it looked to be in great physical condition. No scuffs or dents so I decieded to take it out and see what happened.

The reciever turns on and about 3-4 seconds after it being on I get a message saying "AMP ERROR" and then the reciever shuts off.

Any idea what the exact problem is? Any way I could fix it buy replacing parts or anything? All the fuses look to be in good condition and I don't see any burn marks, so maybe a board went out?

BTW, Google didn't turn up anything

Considering it could be bought for well under $200 shipped, I'd not worry too much about fixing it ;)

Do some searches online, maybe others have had the same problem and posted about it on a board somewhere...otherwise just call up Pioneer and see what they say. You probably can't get them to cover it, but maybe they have authorized dealers near you who can.

Free's better than nothing, but seriously, a Pioneer amp isn't something to fret over. ;)

I've never pulled anything from the trash before and been able to get it to work. I know the kid who thru it away, so if I could get it to work with a very low cost I'd love to let him know about it :D

Found a dead one on ebay, no idea if it'll work though.
