Pioneer VSX-1124-K = Best $350 receiver? ?

My second Yamaha receiver in 5 years died this week, constantly shutting off on its own. I won't buy another Yamaha and this Pioneer looked interesting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Long time lurker, I just signed up so I could give you my thoughts on this. I just picked up the vsx1124 k last night for 349 like you stated, and that's a hell of a bargain. The two most important selling features for me were the new ESS Sabre DAC, and even more amazing this seems to be the ONLY receiver under the 700-800 range that has front pre outs and two sub outs. I wish it had full 7 channel pre outs, but that seems to be a thing of the past until you go way up the chain dollars wise. I was about to buy the Sony str 1050, or denon x2000 for 600 but even those don't have pre outs besides zone 2, which I don't use.

Anyways, so far so good, sounds awesome, I say you buy it, try it in your setup , most places will give you 30 days to return. But that way you don't miss out on the price in case it changes.

I went ahead and picked this up too and couldn't be happier. I would've spent $500 on this receiver after running it for a week.
Yamaha has now lost all my respect. Sad.
