Pioneer vs Clarion quality

I have a clarion deck about 3 yr old, and wanted to purchase a newer Pioneer. I was told back then, to stay away from pioneer cuz they suck sh*t, only look cool. How is the quality these days? Do you consider pioneer to be comparable to clarion or is it inferior??

depends on the model. if you look at a lot of competition results...Clarion is a big time winner. the Clarion Competition equipment is awesome. personally, i would go with a clarion...much better IMO for the price

i would say go with an alpine.. around the same price as a new clarion or pioneer, but imho sounds way way better.

to answer your question, Clarion is the clear winnner .. better quality and better sounds.

but i recommend going with Alpine.

Well, Clarion is mid to high end where Pioneer makes stuff for the low to high end, so overall quality is probably in Clarion's favor. The pioneer premier line is considered fairly good, dunno how it compares to Clarion in the same price range tho.

I've had two pioneer decks in the last five years. I would never buy anything but pioneer decks. Their speakers suck monkey balls though. Right now I have a Pioneer deck matched with RF components in the doors of my truck and a MTX thunder 12" sub with Planet Audio 200W amp. Everybody that rides in my truck tells me how much better my system sounds than any other car they've been in.

Alpine head units are crap IMO. My friend has had two of them go bad in under a year. Another friend has one in his truck and the face plate won't stay on anymore.

Hmm BTW what were you gonna pay for it? I was thinking about getting the same one for about $270 from consumer-direct............
