Pioneer stereo keeps losing settings

I installed a Pioneer digital media receiver in a vehicle and I bought a wiring harness for the vehicle. If I try hook the yellow to yellow and red to red wire it will not even power on. It will only come on if I combine the yellow and red coming from out my stereo and connect it with the red wire on my factory wire harness.
 
Yellow is constant power and red is switched power. Verify that the yellow wire has power all the time (even when the car is off). The red wire should have power when the car is on acc/on or running.
 
You mentioned you bought a wiring harness, if that's the case, you shouldn't have manually connect any wires. Is the harness you bought the correct one?
