Pioneer DVR-A05/DVR-105 firmware update 1.30 is out

Good news for owners of Pioneer/Cendyne DVR-A05/DVR-105 models.
On 03/19/2003 Pioneer released firmware update to ver 1.30
NOTE: Once updated to version 1.30, this drive will not revert to older firmware versions.

Pioneer states following changes in v1.30:

• DVD-R/RW Writability Improvement
  CD-R/RW Writability Improvement
  DVD Playability Improvement

Hmmm. I will download it and wait until I get some more feedback. I don't have any problems right now. For those who have upgraded and would like to revert back to an older firmware here is a link to a program from a guy at Firmware Page . program

It will let you go back to any firmware, even the very first unreleased firmware. It is said that this firmware will let you burn some of the cheaper media that the newer firmware wont. YMMV.

1.30 lets me use some cheap CD-R's I couldn't before. I only have Ritek 4x DVD media which I didn't have any problems with 1.21.

I had a 25 pack of 1x riteks that my burner wouldn't even recognize so I sent them back. I wonder if they would of worked with this new firmware.

Thats odd. Riteks were the only brand that I could consistently burn without errors, but then again I was using 4x media.
