I have a Pioneer DVD-105s and a Plexwriter 12/10/32. When I benchmarked the DVD-rom with Sandra, I get a rating less than a dvd 3x. Also when I am doing cd copying from the dvd-rom to the plextor, I can't copy from the dvd to the plextor directly at 12x or 8x. I had to copy the cd to the hard drive first. The Adaptec CD Copier says that the dvd rom is not fast enough to copy the cd. But isn't the pioneer dvd can go up to 40x? Is there something wrong with the dvd-rom?

Do you have DMA enabled, I have the same drives, the pioneer 16x, Plextor 12/10/32 and also a Kenwood 72x. I don't have problems, so check out the DMA setting. Control panel~system~device manager

Sandra is not a very good benchmark program, use something like HD Tach.

The Pioneer is quoted to be 40x, but in real life it is around 20x
